The Studio

From a Curtain Road loft to shipped titles

Founded on East London’s Curtain Road, EmberRaidBase.digital grew from a two-person prototyping desk into a full production studio. We ship on PC, console and mobile, and we own every layer from netcode to menus.

  1. 2016

    Two desks and a dream

Co-founders Priya and Tom started prototyping physics-driven co-op games out of a shared loft on Curtain Road, releasing three game jam titles in twelve months.

  2. 2018

    First shipped title

Launched “Ember Drift”, a 4-player roguelite, to 180k wishlists on Steam. The rollback netcode built for it became the seed of our in-house multiplayer framework.

  3. 2021

    Console certification team

Expanded to 18 people and became a certified developer for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, adding a dedicated porting and QA pipeline.

  4. 2024

    RaidBase engine tools

Released our internal RaidBase toolset for authoritative servers and live-ops, now powering four client titles with monthly content drops.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you might want to know before starting a build with our team in Shoreditch.

We ship primarily in Unreal Engine 5 and Unity 6, with custom C++ engine work when a project needs it. We are certified developers for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, and we regularly ship to Steam, the Epic Games Store and mobile app stores.

For client and co-development work, you retain full ownership of your IP and source code — that is written into every contract. We only hold rights to reusable engine tooling like our RaidBase framework, which we license back to you for the life of the project at no extra cost.

We build authoritative, server-driven multiplayer with rollback or snapshot-interpolation depending on the genre. Our RaidBase toolset handles matchmaking, dedicated server orchestration and telemetry, and we can deploy to your cloud account or manage hosting for you.

Yes. Roughly half of our engagements are rescue or acceleration projects. We start with a two-week technical audit of your codebase and pipeline, then embed engineers and artists alongside your existing team with clear, milestone-based deliverables.

Our studio is at 78 Curtain Road in Shoreditch, London, and clients are welcome to work on-site with us. We also collaborate fully remotely with teams across the UK and Europe using shared build servers, daily stand-ups and weekly playable builds.
